This is the second one of these I had and it sucks! Both times after a few months only
Half the outlets work and it often doesn't keep things running like it should. The breaker gets triped often and its a pain in the rear to fix. So frustrating! Buy a different product

This is at least the third APC UPS battery backup I have purchased and the earlier and smaller ones have performed well. I trust this one will too, but unfortunately it will have to depend on Windows built-in UPS shut-down software, and not utilize the APC Power Chute software and its user interface. While the PC software downloaded without problem, and while the Installer in the executable file always started the installation process, it would never finish installing. Despite numerous attempts over multiple days and times, it always hung up at the step where you designated the folder for the software. I believe there is a bug in the installer with the current PC version 3.0.2. There does not appear to be an option to get a CD with the PC software. Sigh.

My area has power outages frequently, even when the weather is not a factor. I finally got tired of suddenly not having power when working with my desktop computer and decided on this unit. The setup was easy. I then almost anticipated my next outage to see how well it would work (or not). There were several outages, but my computer was off at the time and I was not home. However, about two weeks after the purchase, I was at home, the computer was on and the power went out. I was in another room and was able to complete what I was doing and then get to the computer and safely turn off the computer, monitor etc. I did not rush to complete this task, so I do not know for certain how long the backup power would last, but it took me at least 10-15 minutes to get to the computer and I would estimate that I would have had several more minutes available to me in order to get to the computer and safely turn off. The backup unit makes a beeping noise while in use, but stops once the attached units are turned off. This backup unit gives me more assurance in protecting my computer from possible harm and data loss associated with unexpected power loss.
